State Report Card

November 14, 2023

Dear EverGreen Families,

I hope this letter finds you happy, health, and ready for the holiday season. I just wanted to reach out and provide some additional detail about our state report card that is being released today.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) will be releasing the school report cards on November 14th, 2023. Each school is given 1-5 stars depending on data gathered during last year’s (2022-2023) Forward Exam and attendance. The Forward Exam is a state mandated test that our 3rd-8th graders take towards the end of the year in math and English language arts (ELA). Our 4th and 8th graders are also tested in science and social studies. If your student tested last year, you will get their individual results at conferences. The school breakdown will be available on our school website within 30 days of the release date on the 14th. The two main factors that our school is graded on are learning growth and absenteeism. Last year, EverGreen Academy earned 3 stars with an overall score of 59.1. This year we earned 2 stars with an overall score of 57.5. All scores are out of 100.

This year’s report card (2022-23):

Growth – 56.5

   ELA – 81.2

   Math – 31.8

Chronic Absenteeism-absent 10% of the year (higher score the better)

   -74.7

 Last year’s report card (2021-22):

Growth

     ELA – 75.5

     Math – 39.4

Chronic Absenteeism

    -78.6

We can see that our greatest opportunity for growth is in math. For this school year, we have been implementing a new math curriculum that will better serve the needs of our students. We have also implemented math intervention in both buildings to help our students. We anticipate these improvements will help our students grow their math skills.

Another important factor is attendance in school. We need your children at school to learn the concepts being taught daily. We understand illness happens, but please do all things possible to have your children at school, even when it isn’t easy. We have formed an Attendance Team to implement solutions like helping families if transportation is an issue. Please let us know if we can help.

We are not happy with our score going down, but we know that with hard work and perseverance, we can improve those scores to better represent the high standards of EverGreen Academy. Thank you for your support and for doing all you can to help your child in their educational experience.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. You can email me at mike.meier@evergreen.k12.wi.us or call my office at 262-631-3656.

Respectfully,

Principal Michael Meier
