Welcome to EverGreen Academy! I’m Mrs. Thoreson, a thirteenth-year educator. I graduated summa cum laude with a degree and certification in early childhood/early childhood special education from Silver Lake College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. In the past years, I’ve earned NAEYC and WRISA accreditation, worked as a vice principal, and earned the “Teachers Are Tops” award. I’ve primarily taught three- to six-year-olds. This is my fourth year with EverGreen Academy.
I’m committed to making each day filled with positive, challenging experiences in a nurturing environment. My classroom is built on the concept that we’re all individuals and are part of a cooperating community. Students work on curriculum target goals independently, in small group, and in whole group settings. They also master individual goals at their own pace. The focus is always on progress.
Family involvement is important in my classroom. As the year continues, parents will actively participate in their children’s education through activities in the classroom, field trips, homework, and special events. The number one indicator of a child’s success is his or her attitude toward learning. The more family involvement parents show their children, the more their children create a desire to continue achieving goals.
I look forward to working with all of the families of EverGreen Academy. Please contact me if you have any questions throughout the year!
