Mr. Lukas Avila

Hello! My name is Coach Lukas Avila. I am a father of 3 boys and 2 girls. I attended Racine Lutheran High School and played college football at Concordia University-Chicago. On campus, I worked at the early childhood education center where I fell in love teaching. I earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and during my time there I also tutored at Cops ‘N Kids, located in Racine.

I have been coaching sports since 2006, when I was granted the opportunity to coach high school baseball at my alma mater, under the late great Bob Mallwitz. I currently coach for Sturtevant Youth Baseball Association, RYS 8th grade St. Cat’s Angels football team, Evergreen’s flag football team, and the Evergreen 6th grade boys’ basketball team.

Before coming to Evergreen, I was in the cellular phone industry as a manager, trainer, and a coach for 12 years. Every day is a learning experience, providing various situations to grow from. The best advice I ever received was, “feedback is a gift.” If you do not receive feedback, how will you know if you are on the right path, or gain awareness on ways you could improve? Growth is key in developing strong, confident students.

New to teaching, I feel extremely fortunate to have found a home at Evergreen Academy. I am excited to be following my dream of educating the future generations.
